The Cerner Data Extraction Specialist will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from the Cerner EHR system to support clinical, operational, and financial reporting needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cerner databases, strong SQL skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to meet organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from the Cerner EHR system into data warehouses or other reporting platforms.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, scripts, and procedures to support data extraction and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and financial teams to understand data needs and ensure accurate and timely data delivery.
  • Ensure data integrity and quality by performing regular data validation and verification processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data extraction issues, working closely with IT and Cerner support teams as needed.
  • Document data extraction processes, including data sources, transformation logic, and data mapping.
  • Participate in data governance initiatives to ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
  • Stay current with Cerner updates and enhancements, assessing their impact on data extraction processes.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data extraction and analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with SQL Server or other relational database management systems.
  • Strong understanding of Cerner EHR system architecture, databases, and data models.
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards in healthcare, including HIPAA.


Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView.
  • Familiarity with other healthcare information systems and interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
  • Certification in Cerner Millennium or related Cerner modules.
  • Project management experience or certification.
