We value competence, creativity, and teamwork while treating everyone with respect. The Application Specialist I will assist governmental and semi-governmental entities with grant applications. The Specialist will meet with clients, coordinate application processes, assist with project development, create/compile application documents, and submit applications within tight deadlines. GrantWorks will provide support services and access to training, as appropriate, for the type of grant applications considered. Only candidates in the Northeast Texas area will be considered. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manage state/federal grant applications by developing timelines and processes from application origination to post-funding project manager transition. Professionally communicate with public officials, engineers, the public, and funding agencies for grant application development. Research and interpretation of Notices of Funding Availability/Opportunity. Coordinate, review, and verify project budgets, exhibits, and maps. Write concise, responsive, and compelling grant narratives. Track application milestones and meet deadlines. Attend and present at public meetings and workshops. Communicate plans, policies, and procedures with stakeholders. Provide a superior customer service skill set, including the ability to listen, facilitate, and negotiate problems. Create/compile multiple grant applications for multiple programs/agencies simultaneously. SKILLS Experience working with city and county governments (Preferred) Familiarity with public works systems, i.e., water, wastewater, streets, drainage, etc. (Preferred) Knowledge of local, state, and federal procurement practices – a plus Organizational skills, including meeting specific application milestones, frequently tight deadlines, and managing time Be knowledgeable and competent in researching US Census data Strong computer skills are required. This includes using Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams Creative thinking and problem-solving Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient at public speaking MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with Community Development Block Grants, the Texas General Land Office, Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas Department of Transportation, and other Federal/State grant funding agencies College degree or equivalent work experience. Reliable Internet Access A valid Texas Driver’s License and clean driving record are required. The offer will be contingent upon the current driving record issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. This is a full-time position that may require overnight travel.
