Virginia Chance School is an independent school for children from age 2 through fifth grade focused on progressive education in Louisville, KY. Description

The Associate Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating accounting, investing, banking, securities, and other financial activities at Virginia Chance School. The position supports all aspects of School finances and budgeting, including but not limited to admissions, re-enrollment, financial aid disbursements, fundraising, and Board prerpation and meetings. Primary Job Duties: Collaborate with Business Office employees on day-to-day operations; Evaluate data, create, and manage the overall school budget, as well as classroom, deptmental, and event budgets; Establish realtions and work with Chance families and donors; Establish and maintain relationships with auditors, vendors, and other providers; Oversee and collaborate with Human Resources in regard to compensation, employee benefits, payroll, etc.; Supervise the flow of cash and other financial instruments, billing, invoicing, etc.; Prepare data and materials and present information to the financial committee and the Board of Trustees; Participate in school-wide functions and events including carpools, emergency drills, Parent's Night, etc. Other duties as assigned by the Head of School. Reports to: Head of School Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm year-round. Some flexibility. Some evenings/weekends are required. Pay: $65K-$75K based on experience and education. Benefits: Options for Medical, (partial school contribution), Dental, Vision, Critical Illness, and Accident; Life Insurance and Long/Short Term Disability; Retirement Matching (5%), Tuition Remission for children of employees enrolled at VCS. Generous schedule of annual breaks (i.e. Fall (Oct.), Thanksgiving Week, Mid-Year (Dec.), Winter (Feb.), Spring (April), etc.).

Position Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older;

Must have reliable transportation;

Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accounting, required;

CPA preferred;

Experience working in schools/non-profit sector;

Preferred experience working with accounting software (i.e. SAGE), Student information systems (i.e. Facts), Gmail Suites, Paychex, Navigate 360, and data visualization software.
