As our client's Payroll Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness and compliance of payroll processes for approximately 15,000 employees across multiple Illinois locations. You will oversee all aspects of payroll operations, implement new processes to streamline payroll reporting, and maintain compliance with all applicable payroll laws and regulations. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless and efficient administration of payroll, contributing to employee satisfaction and the overall success of the company.

Payroll Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of payroll processing, including bi-weekly payroll runs, garnishments, deductions and incentive payouts for 15,000 employees
  • Ensure payroll accuracy and timeliness, adhering to strict deadlines and maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Implement new processes and technologies to streamline payroll reporting, improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state and local tax withholding requirements
  • Conduct payroll audits and investigations to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare and present payroll reports to the management team and external stakeholders
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers in a timely and professional manner
  • Train new employees on payroll operations and update current employees on new processes

Payroll Supervisor Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in payroll at a high-volume capacity
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Proficient in UKG payroll software and systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve payroll issues promptly and effectively
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees and management at all levels
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of payroll specialists
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, adaptability and a collaborative approach
