The Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) serves as a highly skilled technical consultant with independent responsibility for carrying out a variety of high-level assignments in a fast-paced environment, dealing with numerous federal grant and contractual objectives. The HPS I acts as subject matter expert and leads the STDCB through the federal grant application process, coordinates STDCB responses to time-sensitive drills, and maintains internal tracking systems for federal funds. Provides high-level, technical expertise, coordination, and leadership for the development and implementation of critical federal grant activities that are consistent with CDPH core values and are critical to achieving CDPH mission and vision as they relate to sexually transmitted infection and viral hepatitis prevention and control in California. The Program Specialist participates in strategic planning, implementation, and technical consultation for the STDCB’s $69 million University of California, San Francisco contract and $10 million mpox reappropriation. The candidate works under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II, Business Operations Support Section in the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Branch (STDCB).
