Position Overview

The Information Technology Specialist I (ITS-I) operates under the guidance of the Information Technology Manager I within the Technology Services Division's Technical Operations and Support Office. This role focuses on software development for the California Department of Education's ServiceNow applications and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead software developer and subject matter expert on ServiceNow development initiatives.
  • Design and implement ServiceNow workflow solutions utilizing ServiceNow's toolset, including Developer Studio and Flow Designer.
  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance and automate software processes, covering development, integration, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Develop, design, and deploy new ServiceNow application modules and workflows to meet business requirements.
  • Address defects and issues in existing and new ServiceNow applications, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Facilitate collaborative sessions with technical and non-technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and priorities.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on progress and deliverables.
  • Translate user stories and requirements into functional ServiceNow applications, ensuring clarity with program owners.
  • Engage in software development projects using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum.
  • Break down user stories into manageable tasks for effective project execution.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for ServiceNow systems and projects.
  • Administer user access for ServiceNow applications and monitor platform health and compliance.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of system issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with all organizational levels, including external partners.
  • Participate in internal meetings and be adaptable to various assignments as directed by management.

Work Environment

This position may offer a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office responsibilities.
