Position Type: Non-exempt; full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. This position performs legal administrative duties, researches and manages audio recording and transcript requests for all Circuit Court proceedings. Supervision is received from the Deputy Court Administrator. Pursuant to Section 2-501 of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, this position serves at the discretion of the Circuit Court Judges. This means that this position is at will and that either an employee, or the court, may terminate the employee relationship at any time, with or without cause. TOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE: Frederick County offers an extensive compensation package to reflect how highly we value our employees. The following is what you can expect in your first year as a full-time benefited Frederick County Government employee: 11 days of Vacation leave with increase after 2 years of employment 15 days of Sick leave with unlimited annual carryover 11 paid scheduled holidays, plus 2 additional floating holidays Day 1 coverage of comprehensive Medical Insurance Plan options to include generous County HSA contribution (if enrolled in the high-deductible plan) 100% County paid 2x annual salary Group Term Life Insurance and AD&D benefit Work/Life balance programs include: Employee Assistance Program and Employee Wellness Program Generous Tuition Reimbursement Program County and Employee funded Defined Benefit Pension Plan Vesting after 5 years of service Additional service credit for eligible previous public service, military service, etc. Other employee paid benefits such as Deferred Compensation Plan, Legal Resources, Supplemental Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity Insurance, etc. Job Responsibilities: Receive, research and process all transcript and audio recording requests via online platform Maintain, preserve and store recording logs, audio downloads, CDs, printed transcripts, and outdated recording systems Maintain manual and digital documents, databases, files and records, including pdf versions of transcripts produced by outsourced vendor Timely prepare audio downloads of court proceedings for an outsourced vendor to produce a typed transcript that has been requested Timely prepare audio downloads of court proceedings for distribution to parties or interested persons by request Provide estimate of cost for audio recording requests Ensure copy of printed / typed transcript is filed in the corresponding electronic case database for appealed cases Manage all invoicing and payments received for audio recording requests, via the countys online platform Properly seal any audio record of court proceedings in a case that by way of Court Order becomes expunged Stay informed of Maryland Law and Rule changes as it pertains to transcript and audio recordings of court proceedings Develop best practices and policies for maintaining the Courts official audio record and providing transcripts or audio recordings of same, in compliance with applicable law Compose, type and sign correspondence to requesting parties and outsourced vendors, as well as justice partners Effectively communicate with legal professionals, justice partners and the general public, in person or via telephone, regarding procedures, cost and timelines of transcript and audio recording requests as it pertains to official court proceedings Compile and prepare data and stats to report, as needed Perform other related tasks as required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
