Summary

The Category Specialist supports the operations and strategy associated with the overall product assortment. In this role, the successful candidate will work with a team of individuals whose key responsibilities are to ensure the company's inventory categories are trending and maintained according to the department's strategy.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Supports the operations, maintenance, and strategy of purchasing and inventory replenishment process to optimize inventory levels of in-line and seasonal items.
  • Manages line item creation, item numbers, prices changes, and Bill of Material (BOM) creation
  • Generates reports and associated plans that meet company financial objectives.
  • Coordinates with other department teams to set order quantities for existing products.
  • Develops and updates standard operating procedures applying process efficiency best practices.
  • Collaborates with the Category Merchant team to support operations and drive sales.
  • Addresses issues relating to pricing as determined by industry trends and sales
  • Tracks vendor performance and recommends process improvements regarding vendor relationships.
  • Applies logical analysis and problem-solving skills or matters that require escalation.
  • Create and manage open RTVs; and other duties as assigned and determine by business needs.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Preexisting bicycle knowledge
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Understands when and how to escalate issues to Sr. Category Merchant
  • Proven critical thinking and collaborative skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management and suppliers
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong PC skills (including MS Office applications)
  • Technical knowledge of bicycles advised, but not required
Compensation

$18.00 - $21.00 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications.
