To learn more about MSE, visit: www.mse.gatech.edu Location Atlanta, GA Job Summary The Laboratory for Interface Science of Printable Electronic Materials, under the supervision of Erin Ratcliff, is seeking to hire a Research Scientist II to conduct research on the study of printable semiconductor materials for energy conversion and storage and biomaterials applications. Examples of materials of interest can include metal halide perovskites, organic semiconductors, metal oxides, and/or colloidal quantum dots. Central to all projects include considerations of changes in chemistry, electronic structure, electrochemical phenomena, and microstructure arising from interfacing dissimilar materials at nanometer length scales. The Research Scientist will have access to state-of-the-art characterization and spectroscopic capabilities located within the PIs laboratory. Central facilities including the Materials Characterization Facility provide a vast array of instrumental resources. Responsibilities To design, develop, conduct and transfer spectroscopic and/or electrochemical and protocols for materials characterization. To work collaboratively in a team consisting of undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, research scientists, and technicians. To manage various laboratories consisting of imaging, spectroscopy, microscopy, and film fabrication equipment. To mentor graduate students. To conduct routine equipment maintenance. To write research papers for publications, prepare research project reports, and prepare technical presentations. Required Qualifications A Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or A Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related, and five (5) ears of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or A Doctoral degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related. Experience in structural characterization by X-ray diffraction, XPS, FTIR, spectroelectrochemistry, synchrotron-based techniques, TRPL/SSPL.
