About the School of Materials Science & Engineering

Position Summary

The Laboratory for Interface Science of Printable Electronic Materials is seeking a Research Scientist II to engage in research focused on printable semiconductor materials for applications in energy conversion, storage, and biomaterials. The role involves investigating materials such as metal halide perovskites, organic semiconductors, and metal oxides, with an emphasis on understanding the chemistry, electronic structure, and microstructural changes that occur at the nanoscale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement spectroscopic and electrochemical protocols for materials characterization.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of students, postdocs, and technicians.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, including imaging and spectroscopy equipment.
  • Mentor graduate students in their research endeavors.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare research publications, project reports, and technical presentations.
Qualifications

Required:

  • A Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field, with three years of relevant experience, or
  • A Master's degree in the aforementioned fields with five years of relevant experience following a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.

Preferred:

  • Experience in materials electrochemistry and processing.
  • Familiarity with structural characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction and spectroelectrochemistry.
  • Knowledge of metal halide perovskite electrochemistry and defect analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and self-motivation.
