Job Summary
The Laboratory for Interface Science of Printable Electronic Materials is looking for a Research Scientist II to engage in innovative research focused on printable semiconductor materials aimed at energy conversion, storage, and biomaterials applications. This role will involve exploring materials such as metal halide perovskites, organic semiconductors, metal oxides, and colloidal quantum dots.

Research Focus
Key aspects of the research will include:
  • Investigating changes in chemistry and electronic structure.
  • Studying electrochemical phenomena and microstructure at the nanoscale.

The selected candidate will benefit from access to cutting-edge characterization and spectroscopic facilities available within the laboratory, as well as extensive resources from the Materials Characterization Facility.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Designing and implementing spectroscopic and electrochemical protocols for materials characterization.
  • Collaborating with a diverse team of undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and technicians.
  • Managing laboratories equipped with imaging, spectroscopy, microscopy, and film fabrication tools.
  • Mentoring graduate students and conducting routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Preparing research papers for publication, compiling project reports, and delivering technical presentations.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
  • A Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field with three years of relevant experience, or
  • A Master's degree in the aforementioned fields with five years of relevant experience post-Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have experience in:
  • Materials electrochemistry and processing techniques.
  • Structural characterization methods including X-ray diffraction, XPS, FTIR, and synchrotron-based techniques.
  • Electrochemistry of metal halide perovskites and defect quantification.

We seek individuals who are self-motivated, intellectually independent, and possess strong data analysis skills, with the ability to thrive in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
