Position Overview

The Laboratory for Interface Science of Printable Electronic Materials is seeking a Research Scientist II to engage in research focused on printable semiconductor materials for energy conversion, storage, and biomaterials applications. Key materials of interest include metal halide perovskites, organic semiconductors, and colloidal quantum dots. The role involves investigating the chemistry, electronic structure, and microstructural changes that occur at the nanoscale when interfacing different materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement spectroscopic and electrochemical protocols for material characterization.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of students, postdocs, and technicians.
  • Oversee the operation of various laboratories equipped with advanced imaging and fabrication tools.
  • Mentor graduate students in their research endeavors.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare research papers, project reports, and technical presentations for dissemination.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field, with three years of relevant experience, or
  • A Master's degree in the aforementioned fields, with five years of relevant experience post-Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess experience in:

  • Materials electrochemistry and processing.
  • Structural characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction and spectroelectrochemistry.
  • Metal halide perovskite electrochemistry and defect analysis.
  • Collaborative work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and self-motivation.
