Overview

Buzzi Unicem USA, a major cement manufacturer, is looking for a Compliance Coordinator at our Greencastle Alt Fuels plant.

This position will be responsible for meeting the compliance requirements for the Facility Monitoring Plan and Facility Industrial Hygiene Plan along with being responsible for 30CFR Part 46 Training and Facility Part B Permit Monitor requirements.

Responsibilities

Meet the compliance requirements for the Facility Monitoring Plan

a. Complete all facility monitor calibrations, maintenance and bump tests

b. Maintain and archive all monitor data logs

c. Maintain and archive all monitor calibration and bump test records

d. Keep all area, personal, and hand-held monitors ready for use

e. Maintain calibration gases for monitors

Maintain and update a compliant 30CFR Part 46 Training Plan

a. Conduct needed occupational health and safety training

b. Maintain records of completed training and related materials

c. Conduct needed operation job task training

d. Conduct needed hazard recognition training to contractors, subcontractors and authorized agents

e. Prepare material for weekly safety meetings, task training and health and safety awareness

f. Maintain the task training binder for quick reference

g. Maintain a compliant HazCom Plan at the Facility

Meet the requirements of the Facility Part B Permit Monitor requirements

a. Maintain and calibrate the PID monitor utilized on-site

b. Conduct monthly required subpart BB inspections using EPA Method 21

c. Maintain all data logs and complete required reports to the Facility Manager

Meet the requirements of the Facility Industrial Hygiene Plan

a. Work under the direction of the outsourced Industrial Hygienist

b. Ensure compliance with the Personal Protection Equipment Plan in use at the Facility

c. Conduct industrial hygiene sampling to identify and evaluate employee exposure to occupational safety and health hazards

d. Evaluate engineering controls to lower employee safety and health risks

e. Conduct area monitor measurements as needed

f. Maintain all sound meter readings and dosimetry records for the Hearing Conservation Plan

g. Conduct flow measurements of the Facility Venting Systems Plan

Conduct Facility compliance inspections

a. Perform workplace audits and provide abatement/compliance solutions

b. Inspect fall protection equipment and document compliance

c. Inspect eye wash stations and document compliance

d. Inspect fire extinguishers and document compliance

e. Inspect SCBA's and document compliance

f. Assist in establishing hot work permitted areas

g. Assist in JSA, SOP and LPO development and compliance

h. Assist in compliance inspection with federal, state and local agencies

Assist in weekly Facility compliance

Assist in shop inventory control and organization

Assist in emergency response and provide assistance where needed

Maintain the safety supply vending inventory

Review and research required safety improvements and the Facility

Complete other operation and laboratory duties as assigned to assist in Facility efficiency

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's or Associates Degree in a safety related program or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years' experience in professional safety or loss control preferred
  • Knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, DOT, EPA and applicable regulatory agencies
  • Ability to train all levels of the organization
  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized; able to work well within all levels in the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written skills; has good public relations skills
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office products
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with all departments
  • Be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work
  • Be depended on to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be able to adapt to outside work environments
  • Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour
  • Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds
  • Walking of two (2) or more miles per day
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Elevated work required
