**The Team You’ll Work With**
The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) promotes the wellbeing of immigrant communities by
working on policies, programs, and community engagement strategies that facilitate successful
integration of immigrant New Yorkers into the civic, economic, and cultural life of the City. MOIA works
across a broad range of issues citywide and MOIA works closely with sister cities around the country to
advocate for immigration reform and share best practices.

**The Problems You’ll Solve**
The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as the
Special Assistant to the Commissioner to join our Executive team. The role will include overseeing and
coordinating all meetings, public appearances, and travel for the Commissioner.

Job duties will include but are not limited to:

- Providing administrative support for the Commissioner and other senior staff of the Mayor’s

Office of Immigrant Affairs;
- Manage calendars of the Commissioner and senior staff.
- Assisting and staffing the Commissioner as needed to external meetings and events. This

includes keeping track of follow up from each meeting and liaising with colleagues to help
facilitate the Commissioner movement and stay on schedule;
- Working with colleagues and external partners to compile and draft the Commissioner’s event

briefing materials;
- Having a full understanding of the Commissioner’s schedule and needs for each day, including

liaising with the colleagues in the Scheduling, Communications, Public Affairs and
transportations teams to ensure coordination in travel and schedules;
- Monitoring aspects of the Commissioner's correspondence and ensuring messages are routed

to the appropriate staff; Working with the Deputy Chief of Staff to manage the Comptroller’s
task list; Assisting with meeting set-up and other needs for internal office meetings; and,
- Respond to routine requests for information from the public or government agency workers.
- Oversee the response to and tracking of routine requests for information from the public.
- Prepare correspondence for the Commissioner and other senior staff.
- Establish and oversee internal office procedures to ensure effective internal operations and
- external relations.- Identifying and scheduling staffing for the Commissioner and covering whenever someone is
- not available to join.- Ensuring follow up to incoming requests and keeping track of deadlines, etc.
- Supporting social media and communications work for the Commissioner.
- Assist in planning special events

**About You**:

- Excellent PC Skills - facility with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Access,
- PowerPoint;- Excellent oral communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Strong communication and organizational skills;
- Ability to manage a busy executive's schedule;
- Ability to self-start and work productively with a minimum of close supervision;

- Master’s degree in related area - public administration or public affairs or Bachelor’s degree
- from a 4-year college with equivalent job experience- Keen ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments

- Ability to work independently and exercise high degree of initiative to accomplish tasks and

solve problems

**Salary**
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role
is **$55,000 to $65,000**.
