- BPS Right to Read Summer Program The Summer School Literacy and Professional Learning (SSLP) program is an innovative initiative sponsored by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The institute will integrate coursework and practicum experiences designed to support the development of structured literacy practices critical for addressing weaknesses in reading.

This twofold program will support both students and teachers. Students in need of additional support with literacy in grades K and 1 (rising first and second) will receive targeted and evidence-based instruction from participating teachers; at the same time, those participating teachers will receive professional learning and coaching in evidence-based early literacy practices. QualificationsExperience serving as an administrator at the building level and/or in a summer program.Understanding of a comprehensive approach to literacy instructionWorking knowledge of the science of readingStrong organizational skills, especially as they related to managing rosters, transportation, payroll, etc.Responsibilities: All aspects of student registration, transportation planning, breakfast and lunch planning and any other program logistics
- both prior to and during the programDay to day supervisor of site, including managing staffing and payroll, transportation, caretaker communication, student discipline (if necessary), etc.Regular communication with the Office of Teaching & Learning, regarding progress and logisticsProgram Dates: July 1, 2024-August 2, 2024 (prework required beginning May 1, 2024)Site Supervisor Hours: up to 30 hours (flexible times) beginning May 1, 2024 and 8:15 AM- 12:45 PM during the program dates.Compensation: Summer Program & Pre-Work (Total Hours = 133.5) FY25 Contractual Rate ($39.70/hour or $47.87 if administrator) Funding Source: Title I FY24
