The East River Family Strengthening Collaborative (ERFSC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower families, youth, seniors, and communities to become more self-sufficient through integrated and collaborative community-based services utilizing evidence-based practices that are family focused and person- centered.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Under the direct supervision of the EOTR Program Manager, the Outreach / Partnership Recreation Coordinator (Ward 1) will coordinate and implement a host of innovative hybrid activities for all socialization hubs/community dining sites within the ward. 
  • Programs should include, but not be limited to, creative arts, intergenerational programming, monthly town hall meetings, and special events. 
  • The Outreach / Partnership Recreation Coordinator will provide supervision, direction, and assignments to the Site Recreation Coordinators located at the community dining sites to ensure a minimum of four hours of activities are held at each site daily.
  •  They will coordinate and provide oversight of the transportation services to various sites and activities. 
  • The incumbent assists in engaging, mobilizing, and organizing seniors and residents in the delivery of senior services.
  • Specifically, the incumbent will provide outreach for the purpose of recruitment and retention to at least 25 daily program participants at each site in Ward 1. 
  • They will implement community activities within the socialization hubs and satellite locations. 
  • They will also coordinate with all project staff to create an innovative group of hybrid activities within the sites including group activities, resource groups, nutrition education, health promotion, adult education, field trips, and other activities.
  • The Outreach/Partnership Recreation Coordinator will also attend outreach events and community fairs/meetings to identify isolated seniors and others who may benefit from resources with the ward.  
  • The coordinator will also recruit and retain volunteer to support seniors within the ward. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of planning, scheduling, and implementing activities for seniors; 
  • Knowledge of community engagement and outreach approaches; 
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and District of Columbia and legislation, regulation and laws pertaining to the elderly;
  • Knowledge of issues facing the aging population of Ward 1; 
  • Requires leadership and supervision skills during events; 
  • Able to train and motivate others using collaborative skills. 
  • Must have knowledge of issues facing residents of Wards 1; 
  • Able to follow confidentiality protocols; 
  • Able to proactively plan and solve problems; 
  • Able to work with community residents and community-based organizations; 
  • Able to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; 
  • Able to define and evaluate problems and determine or suggest solutions; 
  • Able to establish facts and draw valid conclusions; 
  • Able to assess an environment by listening to what is said, what is not said; 
  • Able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks. 

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree desired; High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) required. 
  • Two to four years related professional experience planning and overseeing events and activities is required; 
  • Experience developing, planning, executing activities for the senior population in Ward 1 or other Ward, or similar communities, is highly desired.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications
Valid Driver’s License required.
