Our mission is to foster economic mobility by providing essential support to teen parents in college and their children through comprehensive programming. We have successfully provided significant tuition assistance, supported numerous student parents, and established partnerships with educational institutions nationwide.

Role Summary:

The Community Engagement Manager plays a crucial role in formulating and executing Generation Hope's recruitment strategy within the DC area. This position involves advocating for the organization within the community, enhancing awareness of our mission, and overseeing the recruitment team. The ideal candidate will possess a proven background in volunteer management, public speaking, and employee supervision, along with strong strategic planning abilities and exceptional customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Direction:
    • Oversee local recruitment initiatives for mentors, scholars, and volunteers, ensuring targets are met.
    • Develop innovative recruitment strategies aimed at specific demographics.
    • Collaborate closely with team members to implement strategies effectively.
    • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and leaders.
    • Lead the interview and selection process for scholars and mentors.
  • Mentor and Resource Family Recruitment:
    • Design and implement recruitment strategies for mentors in the DC area.
    • Ensure a diverse pool of mentors that reflects the community.
    • Collaborate with the development team to secure funding for mentoring initiatives.
  • Leadership and Supervision:
    • Provide coaching and support to direct reports to achieve performance objectives.
    • Establish efficient processes for team operations.
    • Manage the recruitment budget effectively.
    • Regularly update the Director on recruitment progress and collaborate with program managers.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Work with the communications team to prioritize local recruitment efforts.
    • Represent Generation Hope at community events and engage with various stakeholders.
    • Foster partnerships with organizations to enhance outreach.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay informed on best practices by attending workshops and networking.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Integrity and a commitment to the mission of Generation Hope.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years in a management role.
  • Experience in volunteer or mentor recruitment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation for local events.
  • Availability for evening and weekend events as needed.
  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to inspire action.
  • Proficient in building relationships with diverse groups.
  • Data-driven approach to recruitment and outreach.
  • Commitment to addressing systemic issues and promoting equity.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple goals effectively.
  • Excellent listening skills to understand volunteer interests.
