Ampact is looking for an experienced financial leader to serve as its Chief Financial Officer.

Most of the programming at Ampact is focused on education - specifically through the Reading Corps, Math Corps and Early Learning Corps programs. Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all aspects of financial management and leadership including grant & funds management, accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation. The CFO partners with executive leadership and board of directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee financial strategies and activities, providing guidance and leadership in all financial matters, including defining and enforcing financial policies to ensure compliance with grant and 2 CFR 200 requirements.
  • Oversee all accounting operations including GL, grants accounting, A/P, A/R, payroll, cash flow and revenue recognition.
  • Ensure cash flow planning and availability of funds for organizational operations.
  • Provide financial planning & forecasting models to provide insight into the organization's operations and strategies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to executives, management, and staff to align the organization on financial priorities.
  • Oversee the management of financial resources to meet program expansion goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive and senior leadership to achieve organizational goals.
  • Engage the board of directors' finance committee to inform financial decisions and develop financial plans and projections.
  • Document financial business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets, financial forecasts, and report variances.
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate financial reports, including grant reporting and traditional accounting statements.
  • Develop and communicate financial metrics and reporting to executive leadership and board of directors.
  • Coordinate the timely preparation of regulatory and funder reporting.
  • Oversee annual audit processes and grant monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures for regulatory compliance and effective financial management.
  • Stay updated on AmeriCorps regulations and best practices regarding nonprofit operations.
  • Oversee financial systems ensuring successful implementation and full utilization.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with vendors.
  • Supervise and develop finance department staff.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
  • Master's degree in business administration, Accounting or Finance
  • CPA preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a CFO or top senior financial leader in a complex, nonprofit organization.
  • 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Significant experience in nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting compliance.
  • Federal grant experience with understanding of OMB regulations and 2 CFR 200 preferred.
  • 5 years of staff management experience.

  • Travel locally and nationally as needed.
  • Communicate effectively in multiple settings.
  • Utilize existing and emerging technology.
  • Transport moderately heavy objects up to 25 pounds.
