POSITION PROFILE - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER


kpCompanies is collaborating with the Minnesota Freedom Fund to identify their next Chief Executive Officer to guide their organization in promoting the mission to eliminate cash bail and immigration detention.

As the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead our strategic objectives, oversee daily operations, engage with community stakeholders, and drive fundraising initiatives.

Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF) is a vibrant non-profit organization committed to abolishing cash bail and immigration detention.

MFF pays bail and immigration bonds for those unable to afford them and promotes restorative and transformative justice.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Executive Officer is accountable for providing strategic direction and operational management to further MFF's mission.

This role entails developing and implementing strategic plans, overseeing daily operations, ensuring financial health, and cultivating strong relationships with community partners.

The Chief Executive Officer will also spearhead fundraising efforts and advocate for MFF's objectives and values in public discussions.

REPORTING STRUCTURE


The Chief Executive Officer reports directly to the Board of Directors and collaborates closely with them to establish organizational goals and policies.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with MFF's mission and objectives.

Inspire and guide the organization toward realizing its vision of a just and equitable legal system.

Operational Management

Oversee daily operations, ensuring organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Financial Stewardship

Manage the organization's budget and ensure financial stability.

Design and implement effective fundraising strategies to secure financial support.

Community Engagement

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, community partners, and donors.

Represent MFF in public forums, advocating for policies and practices that align with our mission.

Board Collaboration

Work closely with the Board of Directors to set and achieve organizational goals and policies.

Program Development

Oversee the development and implementation of impactful programs and services.

Staff Leadership

Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team.

Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that supports professional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 7-10 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.

Demonstrated success in fundraising and resource development.

Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and financial reporting.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.

Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders, donors, and community partners.

Experience in public advocacy and policy engagement.

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.

Physical requirements and work environment


Hybrid working environment, with a requirement to work in the organization's offices at least one day per week, specifically on Wednesdays.

Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
