Position Summary:

Minnesota Hillel has established itself as a premier Hillel within the Big 10, attracting Jewish college students from diverse backgrounds. We are seeking a dynamic chief executive officer who is deeply committed to Hillel's mission of fostering a lasting connection to Jewish life, education, and Israel. As the Chief Executive Officer, you will oversee multiple campuses across Minnesota, leading a passionate team and creating an inclusive environment that empowers students to explore and enrich their Jewish identities throughout their college experience. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
  • Encourage and organize a diverse and pluralistic Jewish community on campus, broadening outreach to students of varied Jewish backgrounds and interests.
  • Guide strategic planning initiatives alongside the Board, ensuring financial accountability within the established budget.
  • Build and maintain relationships with campus departments, religious organizations, and the broader community.
  • Strengthen connections between Minnesota Hillel and the global Hillel movement, as well as other national programs and initiatives.
Fundraising & Financial Oversight:
  • Analyze monthly and annual financial statements, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the organization's financial status.
  • Collaborate closely with the Development Associate and Major Gifts Office, leading the fundraising team and devising strategies for annual contributions.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with major donors, community partners, and grant-making organizations as necessary.
Team Development & Leadership:
  • Inspire, mentor, and develop a professional team that promotes inclusivity, pluralism, and student leadership.
  • Ensure staff members possess a solid foundation in Jewish education and practices.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture, delegate responsibilities effectively, and support staff in their personal and professional growth.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Board and committee members.
Community Engagement & External Relations:
  • Unify and cultivate a vibrant community while creating a culturally rich Jewish atmosphere for students.
  • Comprehend Minnesota Hillel's unique culture, identify partnership opportunities, and engage with Board members and prospective leaders.
  • Collaborate with campus organizations to enhance student involvement across various programs and platforms.
Student Involvement:
  • Create a warm and welcoming community that fosters student leadership and personal development.
  • Ensure strong collaborations with other religious organizations on campus.
  • Provide personalized mentorship for students on their Jewish journeys.
  • Guarantee that Hillel serves as a safe space for students, addressing antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiments on campus.
  • Promote an inclusive culture that embraces all expressions of Jewish religious practice.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership position within a Jewish or secular nonprofit, higher education, or a related field.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, team leadership, financial resource development, stakeholder engagement, and inspiring pluralistic Jewish life.
  • Exceptional executive leadership with strong visionary and strategic capabilities.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, willingness to take calculated risks, and ability to learn from experiences.
  • Capacity to create an environment for diverse perspectives and ensure all student voices are acknowledged.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and an inspiring presence.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities and comfort working with diverse populations.
  • Proactive communication and collaboration across various offices and agencies.
  • Expertise in facilitating discussions about Judaism and Israel in an approachable manner.
