The Finance Department

The Finance Department is responsible for the strategic oversight of Alight's financial resources and reporting. This includes planning, monitoring, accounting, and compliance with both US GAAP and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Financial Officer of Finance and Accounting will oversee the organization’s financial management, reporting, and internal control systems. This role ensures compliance with audit standards and proper management of donor funds, acting as a liaison with various stakeholders.

Key duties include:

  • Establishing financial policies and procedures to safeguard Alight's assets.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all financial reporting.
  • Overseeing accounting functions, including accounts receivable and risk management.
  • Contributing to strategic planning and operational management as a member of the Platform Management Team.
Financial Reporting and Compliance

Responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining compliance with US GAAP and international accounting standards.
  • Managing annual financial audits and ensuring timely, accurate reporting.
  • Coordinating the preparation of 990 annual reports with external auditors.
Financial Accountability and Risk Management

Key tasks involve:
  • Developing and maintaining robust financial policies and procedures.
  • Implementing risk management strategies and conducting investigations when necessary.
  • Ensuring all expenditures align with donor requirements and accounting principles.
Team Management

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the Global Support Accounting Team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Providing technical support to Alight Enterprises and Affiliates.
  • Monitoring financial reports for executive teams and boards.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A degree in finance or accounting; a master's degree or CPA is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of advanced finance and accounting experience, ideally in the humanitarian sector.
  • Strong skills in accounting software and experience with government grants.
