About Us: Landmark Excavating is a fast-growing construction company operating primarily in Utah, Salt Lake, and Washington counties. We're seeking an experienced finance and accounting professional to join our team and oversee our financial operations. Landmark has been growing rapidly and this role is a key member of the management team reporting to the CFO.
Role Overview: This role will be a good match for an existing finance manager at a small to mid-sized firm or a Sr. Accountant/Financial Analyst at a larger firm looking to take the next step in their careers. Landmark has been growing rapidly, currently has more than 125 team members, and has recently implemented the Viewpoint ERP system.
As the Finance Manager, you'll manage our financial activities and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. To succeed in the role, you must bring a continuous improvement mindset, strong teamwork, and ability to prioritize the team’s activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Oversight:
  • Assist the CFO in coaching and developing team.
  • Prepare, analyze, and produce monthly financial statements for presentation to the Executive Team. Be proactive in explaining the “story” behind the numbers.
  • Manage month-end closing tasks to close the books.
  • Record assets placed in service on the fixed asset ledger and ensure projects are allocated the proper equipment costs.
  • Monitor company cash flow to ensure stability and financial health.
  • Plan and oversee the year-end financial audit
  • Accounts Management:
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate entry of monthly pay applications into our ERP system.
  • Coordinate with project managers to invoice and collect outstanding Accounts Receivable in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable process to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:
  • Ensure Vendors and Subcontractors comply with Landmark policies regarding licensing, insurance, etc.
  • Work with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely and accurate payments as per vendor agreements.
  • Cost Accounting & Reporting:
  • Monitor profitability company-wide and on individual projects, ensuring accurate Work-In-Progress reporting.
  • Ensure processes are optimized so project costs are easily accessible, and forecasts are accurate.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to all systems.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven experience within the construction industry.
  • Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with construction accounting software and financial reporting tools.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost accounting, and reporting.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and communication skills to collaborate across departments.
  • Planfulness / Organizational skills: The ability to set realistic expectations and then deliver on them with team members, vendors, customers, and the executive team. Operate with a sense of urgency, but in a planful manner.
