Summary/Objective

The Human Resource Manager is a key HR partner to Grunt Style This individual is responsible for partnering with leaders across multiple functions and managing daily operations of the HQ Human Resource (HR) department. Under the direction of the SVP, People & Culture, the HR Manager partners with their counterpart in Carol Stream, Illinois to develop and drive implementation of HR programs and initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness and employee engagement. This individual plays an important role in fostering business partnerships with onsite and remote leadership and coordinating strategic efforts in all areas of Human Resources. Reporting to the SVP People & Culture and supported by a small HR team, this individual is a business partner to brand, product/merchandising, marketing, customer channels including retail stores, finance, and IT. This person directly oversees an HR coordinator and Office coordinator.

Our HR team is small but mighty. The right individual is highly collaborative, adapts to change, is calm under pressure, and adept at building relationships with diverse personalities. The most successful candidates have demonstrated experience appropriately prioritizing, driving to completion, and influencing to the best outcomes.


Essential Functions

  • Partner with business leaders and HR leadership to ensure successful execution of Company-sponsored employee engagement events and activities at the local level
  • Provide support and guidance to managers regarding employee engagement and HR initiatives and programs
  • Conduct employee relations investigations and makes sound recommendations that drive fairness and consistency in the application of company policies.
  • Consult with leadership in the areas of workforce planning, recruitment, succession plans, employee relations, onboarding/assimilation performance, development, compensation, benefits, communications and overall people effectiveness
  • Partner closely with regional Human Resources (HR) to build and/or deliver HR processes and programs for alignment to business and company goals. Drive and/or participate in key HR projects.
  • Serves as the point person for employee engagement events; organizes and oversees employee events; negotiates contracts; maintains the annual employee events budget and partners with regional office to plan and execute local events
  • Drive the annual performance review process, annual benefits open enrollment and employee engagement programs in partnership with regional HR
  • Routinely collaborate and drive culture and employee engagement surveys, focus groups, and action planning.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and HR leadership team to support continuous improvement HR initiatives to ensure effective implementation and long-term sustainability. Identify new opportunities where HR can add value to the business
  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s people and culture programs and systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Duties:

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; culture programs; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Owns new hire orientation, onboarding and employee recognition programs
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors
  • Conducts employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Oversee office facilities coordinator, HR coordinator/Payroll administrator
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field highly preferred
  • At least seven years of proven success in a similar HR role required
  • Experience with employee benefits programs and processes as well as compliance requirements
  • Experience working in a multi-state environment and demonstrated ability to ensure state laws and regulations are followed.
  • HR experience in Retail is desired
  • Experience with Paylocity HRIS is desired
  • Experience running Payroll is desired
  • SHRM-CP or PHR required, SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification a plus
  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking is desirable

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Some weekends may be required.


Travel

Occasional travel to Carol Stream, IL may be required.
