SUMMARY:

The Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library (AUC RWWL) supports the teaching and learning missions of four institutions of higher learning that comprise the world's largest consortium of HBCUs—Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Conveniently located and easily accessible to the campuses, the Woodruff Library is the center of intellectual and social life at the Atlanta University Center.

The AUC RWWL seeks a highly motivated individual who will work collaboratively across departments to support and propel the Library's vision of excellence in service to the Atlanta University Center (AUC). Reporting to the CEO/Library Director, the Associate Library Director is charged with organizational oversight of public services, digital infrastructure, and collection development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the CEO/Library Director and other leaders to develop and execute Library strategy.
  • Manage the full range of day-to-day operations, including the development and implementation of policy.
  • Oversee personnel, budgets, planning, and organization of public services, digital and physical library collections, and user relations.
  • Evaluate and adjust library functions and services to meet member institutions' needs and manage the assessment of physical and virtual services.
  • Initiate programs to enhance services and collections, including digitization, information literacy, open education, online learning, and technological infrastructure.
  • Direct the Library's response to remote learning and curricula while overseeing innovative programs fostering information literacy.
  • Create a robust network of campus partnerships to advance and inform Library Strategies.
  • Develop a systematic engagement with the AUC community to raise the profile of the Library, inform strategies, and improve academic engagement.
  • Develop a service portfolio for research data, high-quality open-access resources, and digital scholarship.
  • Represent the Library within the AUC and beyond on internal and external committees in critical partnerships.
  • Ensure that library services and policies are inclusive and accessible to all users.
  • LeadLibrarybrary in the absence of the CEO/Library Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work in and lead a staff or team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain successful working relations with faculty
  • Experience in library collection development (print, electronic, and open resources)
  • Experience with public and virtual library services
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluation of projects
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Knowledge of emerging library trends, technologies, and best practices
  • Current professional association involvement

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
  • 5+ years of management experience with significant responsibility in supervision

This position is based in Atlanta, GA, and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule and relocation stipend.
