The Telecom Structural Engineer will hold EI or EIT Certification and collaborate closely with the Engineer of Record on a diverse range of telecommunications projects.

This role requires the application of expertise in wireless equipment (such as antennas, fiber optics, and carrier services) along with experience in structural analysis and design of towers and mounts for assigned projects. The candidate will ensure compliance with customer specifications and maintain thorough documentation of job-related information as necessary.

Work Environment:
This position may be based remotely, with a preference for candidates located in the Southeast region.

Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects. The candidate should be eager to share knowledge and collaborate with fellow engineers, drafters, and other non-engineering personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

Your Role:
Conduct detailed structural analysis of original, modified, and proposed telecommunication towers, including monopole, guyed, and lattice self-supporting structures.
Perform thorough structural evaluations of original tower mounts and develop modifications for any failing mounts.

Oversee the work of Associate and Design Engineers in producing reports and supporting calculations for review and approval by a licensed professional engineer.

Conduct quality assurance reviews of third-party work as part of Vendor QA and assess performance.
Analyze insufficient evaluations to minimize modification costs.
Develop analytical tools and training presentations, and facilitate training sessions.
Lead small to moderate-sized projects.
Contribute as an engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) on larger projects.
Identify causes of overstresses in tower members and devise practical, cost-effective reinforcement or modification strategies.
Specify reinforcement systems and components to address tower overstresses and customer requirements, producing well-documented calculations.

Create conceptual sketches for tower and foundation reinforcement/modification for the Structural Detailer to transform into design, fabrication, and erection drawings (CAD).

Review and approve AutoCAD drawings for tower and foundation reinforcement/modification designs.
Participate in the development of engineering processes, standards, and tools/programs.
May serve as Project Engineer and act as a designated client contact on smaller, less complex projects.
Coordinate efforts with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.
Manage routine contract administration.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering.
EI or EIT Certification is required. PE or SE in civil structural engineering is desirable.

2-5 years of experience in the Wireless/Telecom industry with proven expertise in structural analysis and design of towers and mounts is essential.

Familiarity with AutoCAD and construction design and drawing preparation (structural analysis of towers and mounts) is preferred.
Understanding of antennas, fiber optics, carrier services, and other wireless equipment is necessary.
Knowledge of TNX Tower, Enercalc, PLS Caisson, and Risa 3D Programs is beneficial.
Flexible work schedule.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, if required.
Excellent communication skills.
Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and retain knowledge.
Ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.

Willingness to travel within local markets with no travel restrictions within the United States (15% travel, typically less, usually 1-2 day trips).
