Description

Reporting to the University Librarian, the Library Associate will manage all aspects of circulation and interlibrary loan for the Oglethorpe University community.

The schedule for this position is 7:00-3:30 four days a week and 1:30-10:00 one evening per week, and the occasional Saturday of work is required.

Currently-enrolled MLIS students are encouraged to apply.

Priority will be given to completed applications received before Monday, August 19th.

Essential Duties
  1. Manage all circulation and building operations.
  2. Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise student employees to ensure smooth, efficient workflow of public services (Including charging, renewing, and discharging library materials).
  3. Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating circulation procedures.
  4. Work the circulation desk assisting patrons with circulation and other public service questions.
  5. Use OCLC WorldShare Management Systems to process all incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan requests.
  6. Plan and execute all aspects of stack maintenance to ensure timely shelving, reshelving, and organization of the stacks through regular shelf straightening, cleaning, and other quality control measures.
  7. Participate in Oglethorpe community events, programs, and committees.
Qualifications

Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent, some college coursework preferred, but those enrolled in a MLIS program will be given priority.
  2. Customer service experience, preferably in a university or library setting.
  3. Experience working with and supervising college-aged students.
  4. Demonstrated ability to understand and solve complex issues.
  5. Some evening and weekend work is required.
  6. Experience with library ILS, especially OCLC WorldShare Management System, and PayCom.
