The University Library at Georgia State University, serving multiple campuses across the Atlanta metropolitan area, is dedicated to providing exceptional educational resources and a vibrant online experience for both faculty and students. With over 2 million visitors in the last year, the library plays a crucial role in supporting academic success through its extensive collections and innovative services.
The University Library is looking to fill the position of Library Technical Assistant at the Newton campus on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will undertake a variety of essential responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Delivering primary service desk support for daily library operations, encompassing basic circulation tasks such as checking in, checking out, and renewing library materials using the Alma platform.
- Monitoring library operations to address issues related to supplies, noise levels, cleanliness, patron behavior, and technology.
- Documenting and tracking facility and technology concerns from initial report through to resolution.
- Compiling and sharing operational statistics with the Library Associate II.
- Acting as the main on-site expert for circulation services and desk operations, including procedures, policies, patron feedback, and Alma usage.
- Managing campus orders through the PantherMart system from order placement to receipt of delivery.
Additionally, the Library Technical Assistant will oversee the campus course materials and reserves collection, serving as the primary liaison with faculty and campus departments regarding course reserve services.
Support for Technical Services will also be required, including involvement in special projects such as cancellations and updating holdings information.
Qualifications :Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED with three years of experience in library services, customer support, or office administration. Supervisory experience may be necessary for certain roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience in a college or university library setting.
- Proficiency in using computers within an office environment.
- Understanding of library circulation processes in an automated system.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills.
Position based at the Newton Campus with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Salary range is $41,891 - $44,720, classified under Pay Grade 7, and is non-exempt from FLSA regulations. This is a full-time position eligible for benefits.
