The Opportunity: PLA Parent Liaisons are the bridge between school, the community, and home. As a Parent Liaison at Phalen Leadership Academies, you are responsible for facilitating communication with our parents to help create a positive learning environment for all stakeholders.

The Details: 

Key Deliverables:

  •   Facilitate clear communication between parents, teachers, and school personnel
  •  Offer guidance and support to parents to ensure their comprehension of academic standard 
  • Assist in arranging meetings between stakeholders
  •   Work in collaboration with building leadership to develop written materials to be shared with families
  •   Provide information to parents/guardians concerning school policy and procedures such as registration, curriculum, assessment, and discipline as stipulated in the student handbook
  •   Develop relationships with parents to ensure they feel supported and have comfortable connections with the school
  • Facilitate the communication of school and program goals and objectives to the community
  •   Serve as an information resource for school-wide family involvement efforts and instructional programs
  • Other duties as assigned 

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  •  Basic computer skills
  • Must possess oral and written bilingual skills at a level sufficient to fulfill the duties of the position

The Campus:
 

Hope Community PCS - Tolson is a public charter school in Washington, D.C. that was founded in 2006 and recently joined the PLA network in 2022. We serve about 250 scholars from PK - 8th grade with a school population that is reflective of the strength and diversity of the community in which we are privileged to serve. We pride ourselves on our STEAM-focused learning that results in scholars taking risks, engaging in learning, and having ownership of their education. Our vision is centered on having a growth mindset to encourage our scholars to develop their immense potential and continue to be active contributors to their communities.
