POSITION


The Sr. Manager, Human Resources at United Way of the Bluegrass (UWBG) is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management within the organization. This role involves managing a dedicated HR staff member, being a primary point of contact for HR related matters for all members of the organization. The Sr. Manager, Human Resources reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, playing a key role in aligning HR strategies with UWBG's overarching strategic objectives and priorities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Staff Management: Supervise and provide guidance to the HR staff member, ensuring efficient and effective execution of HR functions.
  • Payroll Processing: Collaborate with the Finance and Operations department to oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • HRIS Administration: Act as the dedicated administrator for the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), maintaining data integrity and optimizing system functionality.
  • Benefits Management: Manage and facilitate employee benefits programs, including enrollment, administration, and communication.
  • Compliance Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations through accurate and timely reporting.
  • Employee Relations: Foster positive employee relations by addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting a supportive work environment.
  • Development and Compensation: In collaboration with the Vice President of Finance and Administration, develop and implement strategies for employee development and compensation, aligning with organizational goals and budgetary considerations.
  • Executive Team Membership: Act as a member of the company Executive Team, contributing to strategic discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Performance Development Plans: Create and maintain performance development plans for the organization, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in human resources management, preferably in a nonprofit organization
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Employee Relations
  • Minimum 2 years of experience creating, and managing organizational staff development plans
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with HRIS administration and payroll processing systems.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of United Way of the Bluegrass.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This position will be primarily based out of the central UWBG office, but some travel throughout the organization’s footprint is possible. You must have reliable means to travel around our regional footprint. Periodic hybrid work is also possible with manager’s approval.


EXPECTED WORK HOURS

Monday through Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM. Flextime hours must be approved by your manager. Must be willing to work a non-standard work schedule, including nights, weekends, and other unusual hours as requested.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must regularly communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare, and analyze data and figures, and operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs.


PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

Any candidate offered a position may be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by UWBG. These screenings may include a national background check, language testing, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review. A writing sample will be required of final candidates.
