General Description:

The purpose of this position will be to develop and implement current and long-term people strategies to ensure Valent achieves the revenue and profit goals aligned with the Board of Director’s and Sumitomo Chemical Company objectives. This role is a strategic business partner to the senior management team that will oversee the planning, development, implementation and administration of all the employee compensation and benefits, recruitment of top talent, training and development of key staff members and employee relations programs required to manage the growth and development of staff continuing the culture of the Sumitomo spirit to expand and develop into one of the top five agricultural chemical corporations globally.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and advise on key HR initiatives, policies and programs, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, organizational development, corporate responsibility, communications, performance management and employee services.
  • Support and facilitate all shared services activities between Valent and other SCC affiliate companies
  • Participate on global SCC HR teams to represent Valent and SCC global HR initiatives
  • Partner with senior management to identify and address the critical needs of the business and achieve goals that support the long range Business Strategy.
  • Develop HR programs and identify key Human Resource metrics to analyze and solve business problems that impact organizational effectiveness to improve productivity, reduce cost and increase productivity and profitability.
  • Develop a high performance team that emphasizes quality, productivity and goal attainment.
  • Develop, communicate and execute initiatives to promote values relating to corporate culture that values quality, productivity and goal attainment.
  • Integrates succession planning for key contributor and management positions.
  • Manage a team of HR professionals providing day-to-day support and strategic guidance for the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred or equivalent, with 10+ years of related experience and 10+ of progressive management experience.

  • Work Environment includes exposure to or working in or around equipment and machinery including a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Frequency Definitions: Constant = Over 40% / Frequent = Up to 40% / Occasional = Up to 10%
