POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the guidance from the Wellness Director, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for the promotion, supervision, and evaluation of the following areas: fitness, staffing, personal training, Wellness Center operations, and Member engagement.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Personal Training Certification required.
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • New Employee Orientation including, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment Training.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Experience supervising front line program staff, and ability to model skills necessary for their roles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures all Health and Wellness programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Recruits, hires and trains diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within the Wellness Department.
  • Manages the Wellness Department, including supporting the Wellness Director in developing and monitoring the Department and program budgets to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities or events.
  • Supervise the upkeep of strength and cardio equipment, ensuring timely repairs, regular servicing, and the procurement of new equipment.
  • Participates and supports the Y's Annual Support Campaign.
  • Contributes to the success of association wide programs and functions as requested by the Wellness Director.
  • Serve as Director on Duty as assigned.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor.
