Your Role: A Day in the Life of a Claims Support Specialist As a Claims Support Specialist, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our Claims Services Team, overseeing communications through various channels, including phone and email. In this fast-paced and multitasking role, you will manage inquiries, provide essential support, and ensure the department operates smoothly. Your daily tasks will include:
- Reviewing, identifying, and accurately interpreting correspondence of moderate complexity using software, databases, and other resources. Your analytical skills will guide you in determining the best course of action.
- Managing a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls from a diverse range of individuals, ensuring a positive experience for each caller, even in challenging situations. You will actively listen to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide accurate and efficient responses.
- Coordinating with state workers' compensation bureaus, attorneys, insurance carriers, and third-party adjusters to request and follow up on missing information, ensuring timely receipt.
- Creating and maintaining electronic files and internal resources, ensuring organization and accessibility.
Work Schedule This position offers a consistent schedule, working Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Enjoy your evenings and weekends off while maintaining a balanced work/life routine.
Core Requirements To thrive as a Claims Support Specialist at Old Republic Risk Management, you should meet the following qualifications:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role, particularly in a fast-paced environment, is essential. Experience in the insurance industry or claims processing is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Excellent multitasking abilities, capable of managing numerous tasks and communications simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using software, databases, and other digital resources to interpret and manage information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to determine the appropriate course of action in complex situations.
- Ability to remain calm and professional, especially when dealing with challenging situations or upset callers.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
This position requires sitting for extended periods and occasional standing or walking. The role may involve pushing, pulling, carrying, and/or lifting up to 10 pounds. Ergonomic equipment is available to employees.
