PLUS Communications is a full-service communications firm based in Arlington, Virginia. PLUS Communications leads award-winning campaigns integrating public affairs, corporate communications, digital, advertising and media buying. PLUS means more PLUS is hiring for an associate-level position within its Competitive Intelligence practice.

The associate is generally expected to provide clients with daily news clips and real-time news alerts and assist the team in developing client deliverables, such as research books and background reports. The associate will also be trained in basic research tasks, such as pulling public records, vetting individuals or businesses, maintaining internal databases and reviewing social media.

As of July 2021, our office has reopened and resumed an in-person work environment.

Your day in the life may include:

  • Putting together daily news clips and real-time news alerts and transcribing video as needed
  • Providing research support for client deliverables, such as research books and backgrounders
  • Copyediting and proofing research products and client deliverables
  • Maintaining and organizing the firm’s research library, project database & research books
  • Conducting bias analyses and vetting individuals, businesses and others
  • Creating proposals for new business pitches
  • Pulling campaign finance reports and analyzing congressional voting records as requested
  • Executing special projects as required

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in communications or opposition research (including internships)
  • Keen eye for detail and strong research, writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of research databases and methods (Lexis Advance, IQ Media, Critical Mention, FEC, etc.)
  • Previous experience in RNC-style formatting and AP Style
  • Basic understanding of local, regional and national politics and current events
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work as part of a team to seamlessly execute goals
