Position Overview

PLUS Communications, a comprehensive communications agency, is seeking a dedicated individual for an associate-level role within its Competitive Intelligence division. This position is essential for supporting our clients through insightful research and analysis.

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering daily news summaries and timely news notifications, as well as assisting the team in creating client materials, including research compilations and background documents. Training will be provided in fundamental research activities, such as accessing public records, evaluating individuals or organizations, managing internal databases, and monitoring social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compiling daily news summaries and real-time alerts, along with transcribing video content as necessary.
  • Offering research assistance for client materials, including research compilations and background documents.
  • Editing and proofreading research outputs and client materials to ensure quality.
  • Organizing and maintaining the firm's research library, project database, and research compilations.
  • Conducting bias assessments and evaluating individuals, organizations, and other entities.
  • Drafting proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Retrieving campaign finance data and analyzing congressional voting records as needed.
  • Carrying out special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in communications or opposition research, including internships.
  • Strong attention to detail along with proficient research, writing, and editing capabilities.
  • Familiarity with research databases and methodologies (e.g., Lexis Advance, IQ Media, Critical Mention, FEC).
  • Experience with RNC-style formatting and AP Style guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge of local, regional, and national political landscapes and current events.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and collaborate effectively within a team.
