About The Role:

Degree Heating & Cooling is looking for a General Manager to oversee all aspects of business operations and ultimately be responsible for the successes and failures of the company. This leader will drive revenue growth, control costs, ensure department and technician performance metrics are met, create a positive & winning culture, and develop all staff and management, constantly striving to be a world-class operator. The General Manager has an 'owners' mindset – he/she is ultimately in charge and must own all performance across the business. The General Manager should ensure department managers and their teams know their roles & expectations, enable them to function at a high-performing level through delegation without having to perform their tasks & duties. The General Manager will be a problem solver and thought partner, always looking to improve processes and make conducting business easier. This is a full-time role that reports into the VP of Operations and is based out of our Glastonbury, CT office.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Develop budgets for growth and profitability; track performance against those targets daily, weekly and monthly – disseminate the information to your teams
  • Review and control costs to reduce waste and unnecessary expenditures
  • Ensure proper pricing and adherence through routine job costing analysis; control material and equipment costs
  • Own all hiring and termination decisions; control labor allocation and costs
  • Communicate standards, expectations, and performance – the targets and KPIs – to your direct reports and their teams. Hold them to expectations and work with them to achieve goals
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to develop direct reports and their teams
  • Partner with direct reports to build strong/targeted training programs for their teams to improve measurable performance
  • Focus on providing exemplary customer service, including maintaining customer relationships and ensuring repeat customers by coaching your team to sell the right solutions and services
  • Ensure sales & service system processes are implemented and followed
  • Ensure adherence of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws
  • Direct reports include the Sales Manager, Service Manager, Install Manager, Warehouse Manager and Local Accountant
  • Promote enthusiasm and brand loyalty during daily huddles, team meetings, and 1:1's

We'd Love to Hear From You if You Have:

  • 3+ years Management/Supervisory required, P&L experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with, or deep respect for the Skilled Trades and/or similar industries
  • You're a leader and strong competitor who excels in a fast-paced environment, driven by seizing opportunities
  • You're able to consider strategic, financial, and operational capabilities with a high level of emotional intelligence to support a healthy, growing organization
  • A servant leader at your core who inspires the team by rolling up their sleeves to solve problems with them
  • Willing and able to learn and help train industry standards and best practices
  • Bonus points if you're a MBA graduate and/or Military veteran (we love working with veterans)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, risk analysis and develop solutions

The pay for this position is $125,000/year or more depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Equity and other incentive pay may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
