Position Summary

Gemma Power Systems is in search of a dedicated Project Engineering Manager (PEM) to enhance our engineering division. This role will initially be based in our headquarters and will transition to various project sites as required. The PEM will play a crucial role in managing large-scale power generation projects and other industrial undertakings.

Key Responsibilities

The PEM will ensure the technical integrity of projects from inception through to engineering design, construction, and performance evaluation. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the creation of engineering and design documentation with both internal teams and external Engineering of Record (EOR) partners.
  • Managing the EOR's development of specifications, designs, calculations, and engineering solutions, necessitating multiple site visits during the design and construction phases.

Project Development Duties

  • Analyze project specifications and requirements for proposal submissions.
  • Review and provide feedback on customer specifications and project documentation.
  • Conduct or assess calculations for equipment sizing and system efficiencies.
  • Draft or evaluate specifications to facilitate procurement processes.
  • Assist in bid evaluations and vendor selection.
  • Prepare engineering contracts for EOR services.
  • Coordinate with clients to ensure contract compliance.

Project Execution Duties

  • Interpret project requirements, including contract documents and technical specifications.
  • Offer value engineering insights to enhance cost efficiency and operational performance.
  • Ensure timely review of EOR drawings and specifications to align with project timelines.
  • Manage engineering contracts, ensuring compliance with delivery schedules and approving invoices.
  • Review vendor deliverables and provide timely feedback.
  • Evaluate technical bids to support equipment procurement.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with client representatives, addressing design inquiries.
  • Resolve field issues during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct performance tests to confirm project compliance with performance guarantees.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering is mandatory.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in power plant or industrial facility engineering.
  • Comprehensive understanding of power generation processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Proficient problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams.
