Position Summary
The General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer serves as the principal legal advisor for Aztec, overseeing all legal matters and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role is pivotal in guiding the organization through legal complexities while supporting strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement corporate legal strategies to safeguard the organization's interests, including assessing legal risks and opportunities.
2. Lead compliance initiatives, including data privacy and regulatory adherence.
3. Engage in mergers and acquisitions, providing legal insights during negotiations and transactions.
4. Collaborate with various departments, including Sales and Human Resources, to address legal concerns related to contracts and employment matters.
5. Manage litigation and claims involving the organization, ensuring effective resolution.
6. Advise senior management on legal implications of business decisions and policies.
7. Supervise the legal team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with a minimum of 15 years of relevant legal experience.
• Active member of a state bar in the United States.
• Proven experience in corporate law, particularly in a leadership role within a private organization.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
