The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily production activities and effectively utilizing human capital and machinery to obtain appropriate production quality. This position must be successful at ensuring that materials and supplies are available when and where needed, and that machines are functional, and the production facilities adhere to safety standards. This is a highly visible management position, requiring excellent people skills.

DETAILED DUTIES:

  • Assign people to primary and secondary operations and direct and control output daily.
  • Coordinate production operations including warehouse, and the supervision of the material handling team to maintain a smooth production flow.
  • Maximize effective and productive human interaction to everyone's benefit.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Recommend and/or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Execute employee performance evaluation, disciplinary action as needed and recommends personnel action such as salary increases, promotions and terminations when appropriate.
  • Identify the need for and/or provide training where needed to continuously improve staff capabilities.
  • Review and evaluate employee output related to quantity and quality.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Coordinate and instruct Production Leads with start-up and shut down production operations.
  • As needed, troubleshoot for molding and production process problems on the shop floor when Production Leads aren't available or as escalated.
  • Monitor production for variances and oversees the completion of required production records.
  • Work closely with other production personnel, engineering, and management to identify and eliminate variances from stated production standards and to ensure communication and cooperation between all shifts.
  • Works closely with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure the quality standards are attained or exceeded, and to identify reasons for quality problems. This position will also assist in providing corrective action information on a timely basis.
  • Recommend changes needed to improve production quality or efficiency.
  • Enforce safety regulations.
