Job DescriptionJob Description

DC Government Agency has an immediate need for an experienced HR Retirement Specialist. This is a HYBRID role, working 3 day sin the office and 2 remotely to support tasks related to the Retirement (voluntary plans) function include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the online third-party administration of transactions in the 403b tax shelter annuity plan; for loans, withdrawals, transfers, and rollovers that cannot be processed through the third-party administrator, receives, reviews for accuracy and completion, prepares for signature of the Plan Administrator, and processes Salary Reduction Agreements; and transmits applications and statuses to the requisite vendor and/or employee.
  • Provides detailed records research in official personnel files and in HRIS systems for employees retiring.
  • Interacts with employees via email and in person to outline retirement process.
  • Troubleshoots processing problems and liaises with the requisite groups, including the Office of Pay & Retirement Services, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and retirement vendors.
  • Receives inquiries from vendors and employees regarding transactions processing.
  • Logs transactions, and ensures paperwork is filed in requisite Official Personnel Files.
  • Receives refund checks from vendors, forwards same to the Office of Pay and Retirement Services, and tracks reimbursement to employees.
  • Compiles data and runs periodic reports.
  • Works with the Manager, Compensation and Director, Benefits & Compensation to resolve critical retirement concerns received from the Chancellor, Deputy Chancellor, Resource Strategy Officer, and Deputy Chief, Employee Services.
