Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFirst Bank and Trust is seeking an Administrative Assistant in Abingdon, VA to join our team. The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and operational support for the banks in-house legal counsel and supports the ongoing improvement of legal processes and capabilities to meet evolving business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administrative support
  • Maintain electronic and physical files, ensuring accuracy and organization.
  • Assist with document production, formatting, and editing using Adobe, Excel, and Word.
  • Proofread and edit documents for style, content, internal consistency, and readability.
  • Understand and perform roles and support-level tasks assigned to the Legal Department.
  • Maintain and update legal matter management.
  • Assist with outside counsel management and legal budget forecasting.
  • Assist with the preparation of organizational documents including corporate governance materials and update/maintain documentation.
  • Assist with subpoena production requests and collaborate with other internal departments to ensure compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s Degree-Legal, Business or Finance
  • Work Experience may be considered in lieu of an Associate’s Degree
  • 2 years of administrative support experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of the following work: training, similar experience or education.
  • Experience in a financial institution or as a secretary/legal assistant in a law firm is preferred, but not required.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Networking skills
  • Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with individuals at all levels of the company.
  • Working knowledge of Word , Excel and Adobe.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and sound discretion
