Please note there are two roles. One is based in Abingdon & the other in Banbury.
The Older Adult Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) in the North and South of Oxfordshire are looking for Assistant Psychologists to join their teams. You will be working within their busy memory clinic as well as supporting the wider CMHT.
The memory clinic is a diagnostic service where you will be involved in the whole patient journey through triage, assessment and completion of neuropsychological testing.
You will also play a key role in supporting the patient and their family/representatives through the assessment process and potentially receiving a dementia diagnosis.
There will be opportunities for you to be involved in wider psychological interventions in the team and to spend sometime in the Brain Heath Centre at the Warneford Hospital and see some of the research which the Trust is involved with.
You will need to have a keen interest in working with older adults and specifically working with dementia and cognitive impairment. Previous experience in this area would be advantageous but not essential.
The CMHTs are friendly and supportive places to work, with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists and support workers as well as a dedicated administrative team.

Main duties of the job
This advert is for two full time fixed term posts, one based at Abingdon Community Hospital OX14 1AG in the South of Oxfordshire and the other based at The Elms Centre Banbury OX16 9AL.
You will play a major role in the day to day functioning of the memory clinic, for which you will need to have a high level of communication skills and be a positive team player.
Your will need a keen understanding of mental health and be able to undertake supervised assessments of patients attending the memory clinic, supporting the medical staff with interviewing patients and family members or carers.
After training you will offer neuropsychological tests, rating scales as appropriate and psychometric screening.
You will assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the treatment and management of a client's problems under the supervision of a qualified professional.
You will work with other staff to assess patients and work with carers/families to support the diagnosis of dementia.
To collate data, analyse and produce reports and outcome summaries as required.

Job responsibilities
You will be responsible for the day to day smooth running of the clinic alongside the medical staff as well as well asinvolved in the triage of patients referred by their GP's into the service.
There will be opportunities to be involved in the wider psychological functioning of the team and to join in training and meetings with the psychologists working within Older Adult mental health.
You will receive regular clinical supervision with one of the team's psychologists as well as management supervision from the memory clinic nurses.
You will need to have excellent English and IT skills.
