Job Description: Community Liaison and Outreach Coordinator

Location: Baltimore City, MD
Department: Workforce Development
Reports To: Director of Workforce Development
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Overview:

The Community Liaison and Outreach Coordinator will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between workforce development programs and the community. This position involves extensive interaction with community groups, local businesses, educational institutions, and residents of Baltimore City to promote workforce development initiatives and services. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community engagement, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong understanding of the workforce development landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement:

    • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, local businesses, educational institutions, and residents.
    • Act as the primary point of contact between the workforce development program and the community.
    • Organize and attend community meetings, forums, and events to promote workforce development services.
  • Outreach Coordination:

    • Design and implement outreach strategies to raise awareness about workforce development programs.
    • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create outreach materials and campaigns.
    • Utilize social media, local media, and other platforms to disseminate information about programs and services.
  • Program Promotion:

    • Inform community members about available workforce development resources, training programs, and employment opportunities.
    • Facilitate workshops, informational sessions, and training events to educate the community about workforce development initiatives.
  • Partnership Development:

    • Identify and establish partnerships with local businesses, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to support workforce development efforts.
    • Coordinate with partners to create opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, and job placements for program participants.
  • Data Collection and Reporting:

    • Track outreach activities and community engagement efforts.
    • Collect feedback from community members and partners to assess the effectiveness of programs and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare reports on outreach activities and community impact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support Services:

    • Assist individuals in navigating workforce development programs and accessing necessary resources.
    • Provide one-on-one support to community members seeking employment, training, and educational opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, communications, public relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community outreach, public relations, or workforce development.
  • Strong understanding of workforce development programs and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with the Baltimore City community and local organizations is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires occasional evening and weekend work to attend community events and meetings.
  • Must be able to travel within Baltimore City to various community sites and partner locations.
