Over the past two decades, technological advancements and the allure of a global community have made it increasingly effortless for the community to slip into isolation in the daily lives. The community often find ourselves living in one place, working in another, and spending leisure time far removed from immediate communities. While technology offers diverse opportunities for long-distance connections, it has simultaneously widened networks without deepening bonds. The community cycles through interactions without truly looking each other in the eye, feeling human touch, or hearing a voice in person.

As human beings, the community is inherently wired for connection. Yearns to belong, to derive meaning from lives within the context of relationships, and to feel understood in the presence of others. Yet, in the commuter mindset, the institute often overlooks the opportunity costs, missing out on genuine personal connections, failing to invest in any single community, and ultimately neglecting to nurture a sense of place for ourselves and those around us. Recognizing that the quality of life is the culmination of relationships, the institute acknowledges that weak and distant connections undermine the sense of fulfillment. Institute for Community, through Community Life, is seeking to address this imbalance.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Enthusiastic individuals committed to building meaningful relationships and fostering community spirit.
  • Experience in leadership, community engagement, or related fields is a plus, but a passion for making a difference is what truly matters.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A Christian with a daily walk with God.
  • A team with an existing relationship with a church in that area. (Preferable not required)

Compensation/ Job Details

  • Location: Fairlane Woods Apartments

Dearborn, MI

  • Part-time position (20 hours per week per team of 2) with flexible scheduling.
  • No compensation or medical benefits are provided.
  • Housing is included on site. (2 beds, 1 +bath) $2,000- 2,500 Value, Tax-free.
  • Utilities are not included with housing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate connections between residents and neighborhoods.
  • Identify and develop community assets.
  • Manage the property’s online presence and promote community activities.
  • Welcome new residents and help integrate into the community.
  • Collaborate with property staff to organize special events (Annual summer party, Christmas Party, etc).
  • Be the heart of our community-building initiatives, connecting residents and fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Assist with resident retention and referrals.
  • Receive comprehensive training from the Regional Community Life Manager.
  • Monthly Mission call with other CL Teams.
  • Dual reporting with the Property Manager and Regional Community Life Manager
  • Monthly meeting with the Property Manager to discuss budget and monthly events.
  • Monthly check-in meeting with the Regional CL Director.
  • Host and Serve 3-5 monthly events utilizing the property's amenities.
  • Market and advertise monthly events.
