A Kaniksu Community Health Clinical Operations Supervisor is not just responsible for providing excellent customer service.They are committed to providing an excellent patient experience while performing essential clinical or administrative work in a fast-paced, productive environment. YOU ARE an essential team member charged with assisting patients in managing their care at Kaniksu Community Health.


Under the direction of the KCH Director of Nursing, KCH Charge Nurse and Medical Staff Providers and as a member of the Kaniksu Community Health Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Team, a typical day might include of a Clinical Operations Supervisor might include;


  • Works cooperatively with the KCH Medical Providers and personnel to carry out the goals and objectives of KCH according to the established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares treatment and examination rooms, instruments, equipment, and room patients.
  • Assesses, plans, directs and evaluates comprehensive nursing care as determined by the Patient’s age related physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs in accordance with profession practice standards, policies and procedures of KCH and the State of Idaho CNA/CMA/RN/LPN scope of practice.
  • Reviews patients’ medical records for basic health history, completeness and updates prior to the Patients’ visit – with a focus on health maintenance and chronic disease management clinical protocols.
  • Performs assessment data collection and documents subjective data (chief complaint and allergies) and objective data (vital signs/weight/etc.).
  • Provides basic education information to patients and families, focusing on self-care appropriate to their age and identified learning considerations and needs.
  • May be required to administer medications and intravenous solutions PRN. The nurse is expected to implement treatment skillfully and correctly.
  • Perform lab/diagnostic testing as ordered by provider and reports all normal lab values.
  • Maintains knowledge of universal precautions and blood borne pathogens.
  • Assists provider with examination and procedures per request.
  • Utilizes universal precautions in obtaining specimens (venipuncture, specimen cultures, etc.) and in delivery of patient care.
  • Performs lab testing (i.e. urine dip, pregnancy test, strep screen, hemacue) including quality controls and maintains all laboratory/diagnostic test logs.
  • Assists multiple providers on occasion with established patient care protocols and works collaboratively for the coordination of quality healthcare as part of the Medical Home Team.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the care given by interdisciplinary care team and identifies problems and guides team members to their solution.
  • Demonstrates an ability to remain calm, perform effectively and professionally during peak periods of activity and emergency situations.
  • Provides guidance to non-clinical staff regarding clinical issues in prioritizing patient care based on acuity or urgency of patient’s needs; patient’s preferences or choice; available resources; and other departments’ need for patient availability.
  • Clinical Operations supervisor is expected to track and assist the provider care teams with daily UDS measures and PCMH requirements to ensure KCH maintains the highest quality and level of care.
  • Maintains “tracking log” for all lab, x-ray and referrals, ensuring all loops are closed POCT tracking logs, including monthly maintenance logs
  • Develop and maintain nursing staff schedules to ensure daily provider and clinic coverage.
  • Manage the nursing team attendance, including requested time off (PTO) and Timeclock review/verification.
  • Manage personnel operations including counseling, training and interventions that align with KCH PNP. Regularly update Director of Clinical Programs, with current personnel interactions.
  • Manage and monitor staff attendance including recruitment needs and staffing shortages.
  • Responsible for attending and actively participating in PCMH Team Meetings, Staff Meetings, In-Service and Educational Programs.
  • Assists with orientation of rotating clinical personnel.
  • Works with the PCMH Team to assure that all KCH patients are given top priority both personally and professionally by all medical support staff and that patients and providers needs are met through appropriate systems and the highest level of patient services.
  • Responsible for relating well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and for having empathy for patients with demonstrated ability to treat them with dignity and respect.
  • Responsible for providing accurate and thorough work product with attention to detail; maintains accurate documentation on patient’s medical record according to established guidelines for electronic medical record.
  • Responsible for supporting compliance with federal, state and other agency requirements. Strict adherence to confidentiality of all information related to KCH patients and organizational information.
  • Responsible for managing priorities and workload, time management to ensure effective workflow in a fast paced clinic environment.

  • Responsible for adherence to policies and procedures and supporting standardization and integration across the KCH organization.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet patient care needs/demands.

Experience Needed to Land this Gig:

  • Minimum High School Diploma required
  • Applicant must be a Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant in Idaho.

OR

  • Minimum Associate Degree as Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse required.
  • Currently licensed to practice as an LPN or RN in the State of Idaho.
  • Minimum 2 year similar experience. Experience in a community health center, public health or a community hospital desired.
  • Possess cognitive skills necessary to understanding medical instructions and identifying problems and offering solutions.
  • Must demonstrate accuracy, proficiency and efficiency with computer skills for data entry.
  • Demonstrate effective people skills with the ability to communicate well with patients and families utilizing tact and professionalism
  • Consistent demonstration of team approach to patient care.
  • Must be able to ensure that all daily actions and communication are in support of the mission, vision and values of Kaniksu Community Health.

This position is open to CNA, CMA, RN, or LPN with management and leadership experience.
