Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Compliance and Quality Control Manager at Galaxy Labs. The role involves overseeing and implementing compliance and quality control measures, conducting audits, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements in the cannabis industry.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Provide cross-functional support and regulatory, legal, and strategic advice to internal teams and departments, including identifying and developing regulatory opportunities
  • Manage the internal compliance function, including inventory and audit controls
  • Provide oversite and admin system support of Biotrack THC software
  • Oversee and conduct all regulatory inspections in coordination with the Department of AG, ISP, and various other regulatory bodies
  • Routinely audit all security systems and recording devices within the facility are properly working and maintained to ensure proper compliance
  • Maintain records, and documentation as required by law and generate reports as needed for regulatory and recordkeeping purposes
  • Assist with the development and implementation of facility staff training programs
  • Work with department managers and subject matter experts in drafting SOPs, Work instructions, and various forms as part of a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Manage the implementation of quality programs and compliance-related policies and procedures throughout the operating units
  • Document all changes into training manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide ongoing, periodic checks to ensure employees are performing processes and procedures accurately and within compliance
  • Participate in updating quality procedures and validation of processes
  • Identify all potential, serious, or chronic issues affecting product quality or compliance
  • Establish and enforce quality assurance standards and provide technical recommendations in production and packaging
  • Enforce and monitor the vendor approval process for incoming products and consumables, perform risk evaluations, and conduct supplier audits
  • Oversee all 3rd party QA testing for flower batches and various products, work with and establish relationships with testing laboratories
  • Additional duties and responsibilities will be assigned as necessary


JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to both work and drive projects independently as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional groups to set objectives, drive progress, and produce meaningful results
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think through critical information, make informed recommendations, and problem-solve
  • Process-minded with close attention to detail and strong legal writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills; must have the ability to explain regulations in a way that will be understood at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain a high sense of confidentiality
  • Promote a culture of quality and change management by empowering team members and colleagues


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; undergraduate degree required
  • 5+ years’ experience of relevant work experience; cannabis regulatory experience, compliance, or legal experience desired
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of state and local cannabis laws and regulations
  • Experience in writing and training team members on the implementation of SOPs
  • Advanced MS Office and Excel skills; QMS experience ideal
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check
  • Must comply with all legal or company regulations working in the industry
