Position Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of products and processes within our manufacturing environment. This position involves developing and maintaining quality standards, conducting inspections, and collaborating with suppliers to uphold our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and refine Control Plans for Production Quality Control, incorporating insights from continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, modify, and uphold quality standards for materials and finished products.
  • Design and implement inspection and testing methods to evaluate product precision and accuracy.
  • Oversee calibration of measuring and testing equipment, maintaining comprehensive records.
  • Review Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMRs) for accuracy and update the database accordingly.
  • Support the development and execution of the Supplier Quality Assurance program, including data management and system enhancements.
  • Conduct audits of products and processes to align with documented quality objectives.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) and maintain relevant databases.
  • Manage incoming inspections and outgoing dock audits, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Analyze supplier returns and coordinate feedback to management.
  • Conduct thorough quality audits and establish standards for outsourced products.
  • Guide testing and sampling methodologies, providing training as necessary.
  • Report on quality analyses and recommend procedural changes to enhance quality.
  • Ensure compliance throughout all phases of quality testing and validation.
  • Facilitate supplier quality audits and regulatory inspections, contributing to laboratory studies and operational activities.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and inspectors.
  • Maintain oversight of materials, facilities, and products to ensure quality control.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer complaints, coordinating with suppliers for resolution.
  • Review nonconformance material disposition and inspection of reworked products.
  • Track and report costs accurately.
  • Measure prototype and production parts during launch phases.
  • Oversee all serial Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation at suppliers.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives using the 8D Process, DMAIC Principles, and 5-Why analysis.
  • Interpret Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to make informed quality judgments.
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in reducing Risk Priority Numbers (RPN) by enhancing PFMEAs and Control Plans based on lessons learned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality engineering role.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with TS/IATF 16949 standards.
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques.
  • Ability to read technical drawings; GD&T experience is essential.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including overtime and weekends.
