Summary

This position manages the administrative and business operations of Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site in Deer Lodge, MT. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide accurate and reliable advice on a wide range of administrative functions as these apply to the park, as a personal advisory service to the Superintendent and Division Chiefs and by directing specialists, technicians and clerical support positions in delivering services to management and employees of the park.

Duties

The major duties of the Administrative Officer position include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides accurate and reliable advice on a wide range of administrative functions. Plans, analyzes and monitors the formulation and development of park-wide plans, programs, procedures, operating policies, internal controls and program goals. Responsible for keeping the park's revenues and spending in balance through sound advice on budget and financial management on a day-to-day basis. Serves as the primary liaison with the Servicing Human Resources Office (SHRO), coordinating the identification and communication of needs and receipt of HR services from the SHRO. Serves as the point of contact for all acquisition actions issued by the park.

Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Applicants must be at least 18 years old at time of application.

To qualify for the Administrative Officer position at the GS-09 grade, you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Providing a wide variety of administrative services to enable efficient operation of a business or program office; Analyzing work functions and processes to identify process improvements; Planning and coordinating budget and financial plans and operations; And/or developing and formulating alternative solutions to administrative matters. You must include hours worked per week on your resume. -OR- EDUCATION: Must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You must include transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Must have a combination of graduate-level education and specialized experience that together meets the requirements of the position (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts and hours worked per week on your resume. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
