Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Coordinator, Academic Services for Athletics. The Coordinator assists in advising student-athletes on class schedules in the context of mandated Conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations relative to progress toward graduation.
This position monitors academic progress; serves as a liaison between coaching staff, departmental advisors, university student services, and Admissions and Records. Additionally, this position staffs the Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) Study Center and computer lab; and assists in the recruitment processes.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Advise student-athletes on class schedules to ensure compliance with mandated Conference and NCAA regulations, in particular those with initial and continuing eligibility issues and progress toward graduation
- Document outreach, and track all student-athlete interactions via Navigate or Teamworks as needed
- Assist in the recruitment process of potential student-athletes by conducting initial recruitment meetings
- Evaluate transcripts to determine if student-athletes meet the Admissions and Records standards and meet NCAA eligibility requirements
- Attend professional conferences and webinars on compliance and student advising to continue professional self-education and advancement
- Support transition program for new students within NCAA Life Skills
Bachelor's Degree and two years of related work experience; OR a master's degree and one year of related work experience.
Related Experience: work experience in student services or intercollegiate athletics or related.
