Position: Business Development Manager at Amentum

Amentum is looking for a talented Business Development Manager to boost growth within the United States Space Force (USSF) focusing on former USAF Space Operations clientele. The ideal candidate must have recent experience in USSF and/or USAF Space Operations, with a preference for knowledge in USSF and/or USAF Space Acquisitions. A Bachelor's degree is required, while a Master's degree is a plus. It is essential to have at least two (2) years of supervisory/command experience in USSF/USAF Space Operations within the past 6 years. Candidates should possess strong customer knowledge and networking skills to spot opportunities in the DOD United States Space Force market and position Amentum as a top provider. This position offers a hybrid/remote setup with occasional travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations as needed. Preferred candidates are those based in Southern California, Colorado Springs, Colorado, or the Space Coast of Florida.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing strategies and responses to Request for Information (RFI), Market Surveys, and Expressions of Interest (EOI)
  • Create and deliver capability statements and new business presentations to senior and executive levels
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key customers to grasp their needs, plans, goals, and concerns for developing new business
  • Lead in shaping Request for Proposals (RFP), nurturing customer intimacy, and identifying organizational strengths and weaknesses for pursuing opportunities
  • Collaborate with a team to drive opportunities from RFI to contract award, managing bid strategies and supervising the development of technical, management, and cost strategies
  • Work with the team to formulate win strategies, themes, and discriminators, and communicate them effectively
  • Identify the necessity for teaming partners and oversee required agreements
  • Participate in solution development and management of capture plans and strategies into proposals
  • Develop and enhance market strategies, analyze business cases, and assess customer trends for identifying growth opportunities in domestic and international markets
  • Consult with customers on upcoming requirements and ensure the capture/proposal teams understand all aspects
  • Support transition managers in setting up program activities post solicitation award

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Recent experience in USSF and/or USAF Space Operations is mandatory
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a relevant field for the customer's mission is required
  • Master's degree is preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Proficiency in various business development aspects including capture, competitive intelligence, and pricing
  • Strong network and credibility with USSF/USAF Space Operations customers
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer operations, priorities, and business environment
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain productive networks
  • Experience in a supervisory/command role in USSF/USAF Space Operations is desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Capability to remain positive under pressure and deliver outstanding customer service
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Willingness to travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations as needed
