How will you make an impact in this role?

The Enterprise Digital & Data Solutions (EDDS) organization powers the world's best customer experiences and revenue growth through innovative data, digital and marketing products, and solutions. Enterprise Portfolio and Program Management (EPPM) is a team within EDDS responsible for leading multi-year strategic programs that cut across multiple product teams as well as accelerating strategic alignment and planning across Enterprise Centers of Excellence (COE) and Technology to elevate transparency and drive business and customer outcomes.

As Director, Program Management, you will be leading the successful co-creation and implementation of this strategy which will re-imagine the relationship between the customer and Amex. You will be responsible for defining and leading the Program's multiple workstreams including Envisioning & Discovery, Solutions Management, Communications, Roadmap Ideation, Outcome Definition and Critical milestones and dependency management. The successful candidate must have a keen focus on the customer journey, advanced process design techniques, a proven ability to collaborate at scale, enjoys a fast-paced environment and can influence key partners into action, all while maintaining a positive attitude in the face of challenges.

As Director, Digital Portfolio Management, you will be responsible for managing enterprise prioritization and product planning. You will work with business stakeholders across US Consumer, US Consumer Banking, ICS, and GCS and product leaders across EDDS, Enterprise Platforms, CFR, and GSG, to identify and prioritize strategic opportunities, refine initiative scope, assess feasibility, and develop a strategy to forecast and coordinate product development efforts through launch across customer journeys. You will manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships and work to increase transparency and predictability in capacity and delivery and resolve risks as they arise. You will define strategic outcomes with BU decision makers and partner effectively across product, platform, and engineering teams to apply lean systems thinking to strategy, investment funding, capacity and agile operations and manage the enterprise roadmap.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a skillful communicator who enjoys a fast-paced environment, operates cross-functionally, has a strong aptitude for process innovation and influences key stakeholders into action – all while maintaining a positive attitude and sense of humor in the face of challenges.

This role reports to Vice President, Enterprise Portfolio and Program Management.

Key Responsibilities - (Digital Program Management)

Drive highly visible EDDS strategic initiatives, working cross-functionally to structure problems, analyze opportunities, and develop actionable recommendationsDefine clear outcomes centered around customers that can be linked to shareholder impact and enable prioritization across stakeholdersProactively drive recurring communications and executive materials creation to ensure transparency and collective understandingCollaborate and partner across all of EDDS and enable a best-in-class operating modelDefine and manage a multi-year roadmap, managing dependencies and proactively mitigating riskResponsible for managing the broader roadmap and ensure there is a balance of large and small releasesPartner closely with leadership to refine stakeholder communications and manage partner expectations Key Responsibilities - (Digital Portfolio Management) Drive portfolio management activities for an established portfolioCreate and deliver executive-level communications regarding ongoing priorities, status, and key decisions requiring alignmentLead with a customer first perspective to consult with business partners to understand their strategic objectives, refine scope, shape into customer deliverables, and assess next steps for implementationPartner with teams to design and maintain robust portfolio-level roadmaps through proper sequencing, coordination, and resolution of blockers/dependencies to ensure timely launchManage an iterative strategic planning process, including providing clear and accurate status of initiatives, leading intake and assessment of new demand, and facilitating leadership decision-makingDrive an improvement in business outcomes and key results by facilitating prioritization and accelerating delivery across the portfolioCollaborate across LOBs and COEs to stand-up best in class operating models that improve the investment planning process and optimize the flow of product delivery across the complex digital ecosystemDemonstrate a willingness to continually learn and implement design, product, and technologies solutions within a dynamic and highly matrixed environmentMinimum QualificationsProven ability to analyze complex processes to find and drive innovative solutions Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience working across product development and engineering teams; with a proven record of driving transformational change at scale and bringing complex strategies to fruitionLeads with an enterprise and customer first mindset with a track record of influencing others to embrace changeDemonstrated ability to self-start, carve opportunities out of white space, define a strategic vision, and drive results with a high degree of independenceHighly skilled in Agile product development methodologies, program and project management, with a mastery of enterprise collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Rally)Excellent collaboration skills with proven success in partnering with servicing, platform and LOBs to deliver goals enterprise-wideSuperb presentation building skills with ability to "tell a story", in a clear and concise way to all audiences, including executive leadersAbility to influence without authority and bring multiple partners to a unified consensusHistory of high performance with demonstrated adaptability to excel in a fast-paced environment, adjust to shifting priorities, and manage others through changeProven ability to lead and motivate high performing teams, juggle multiple workstreams in a rapidly changing environment, and create a culture of belonging, collaboration, fun, and excellenceAbility to maintain a positive attitude and sense of humor in the face of challenges Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
